Tattoo concepts

January 30, 2013

I believe in tattoos as a visual and permanent form of self-expression. The body is a canvas, your canvas, and you have the freedom to “paint” it with art that is important to you. That being said, I do respect the people that get tattoos that are important to them more than those people that get a random tattoo just to have one.

These are the tattoo subjects I want, that I’ve been considering for a long time. The images I’ve associated with them below are what I am currently looking at for inspiration.

Dragon – Dragons are my favorite mythological being. If you look at my bookshelf you’ll see a great deal of books having to do with dragons. To be honest, anything pertaining to dragons captures my attention. I believe they represent strong and fierce beauty.

Hiryu from Final Fantasy V. Love the Amano style, not crazy about the gut or wings.

Lisbeth Salander's tattoo in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Love the head and most of the body, not crazy about the wings.

Wolf – Wolves are my favorite realistic beast. Again I feel drawn to them because they represent a beautiful fierce and strong beauty. My favorite video game is Okami, can you guess why?

As an homage to my favorite video game and animal, I would love to have a tattoo of Amaterasu from Okami. I love this style.

Love the watchful eyes and fur detail.

Honeybee – My name means “honeybee” in Greek. I’m not sure if that’s what draws me to bee’s or not, but I always save them. If I see one stuck in a web, or on the ground in danger of being stepped on, I relocate it to a nearby plant. There are no images for this category yet, because I have yet to find an art style I like.

Video Games – I am a gamer. And there are many games that have really touched my life. I only have one image below because I am still fine tuning the other ideas.

My favorite Moogle is Mog from FF6, but I love this style of Moogle.

I have an artist in mind, he’s tattooed my sister and I really like his use of lines, color and shading. Like most good quality services, he’s expensive, so I will have to save my money before visiting him.

    1. I agree! You should try out the open Beta for a game called Akaneiro: Demon Hunters. It has a very similar art style to Okami. I plan on doing a video on it here in the next couple of weeks.
