Fast food vs. me

September 10, 2012

Some of the scariest things you can eat come from the drive-through window. I’ll admit I am a big offender when it comes to fast food. I fall into the line of thought that fast food is fast. When I get home from work and I’m exhausted, I don’t want to spend an hour or two preparing and cooking my own dinner, I’m hungry NOW! At one point my ratio of fast food meals far exceeded my home meals per week. In an effort to eat healthier I now only allow myself fast food once or twice a week as a treat. Eventually I would like to cut down to once every two weeks, then only on occasion. I don’t want to get too ahead of myself because let’s face it, fast food is addicting.

Sometimes it helps to have a little shock therapy to inspire change. I highly recommend watching Supersize Me or reading Fast Food Nation. I also recommend looking at the nutritional information for your favorite fast food items to realize how bad for you they really are.

Below is a list of some of my favorite foods from fast food restaurants and how the calories add up. If I could look at this every time I’m craving out food I’m sure I’d feel a lot different.

In and Out Burger
Cheeseburger (480) + Animal Style Fries (660) + Dr. Pepper (200) = 1340 calories
Cheeseburger (480) + Fries (395) + Dr. Pepper (200) = 1075 calories

Carls Jr.
Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger (1000) + Small fry (310) + Dr. Pepper (150) = 1460 calories
Western Bacon Cheeseburger (740) + Small fry (310) + Dr. Pepper (150) = 1200 calories
Superstar w/Cheese (940) + Small fry (310) + Dr. Pepper (150 ) = 1400 calories

Famous Star w/Cheese (680) + Small fry (310) + Dr. Pepper (150) = 1140 calories

Taco Bell
3 Taco Supremes (690) + Nachos (330) + Dr. Pepper (380) = 1400 calories

Panda Express
Steamed Rice (330) + Broccoli Beef (160) + 3 Cream Cheese Rangoons (190) + Dr. Pepper (380) = 1060 calories

McDonald's
Big n’ Tasty (510) + Large French Fry (500) + Dr. Pepper (310) = 1320 calories
Quarter Pounder w/Cheese Meal (510) + Large French Fry (500) + Dr. Pepper (310) = 1320 calories

  1. lOL looks like somebody likes doctor pepper XD

I don't tell a lot of people this but I had recently lost a lot of weight over 120 pounds to be exact I learned a lot of things during my diet because of mens testosterone we burn 2500 calories a day with normal activity women burn around 2000 calories a day but that's mostly because of there estrogen telling them to keep weight on ( Barry White voice) for making babies...lol but even with that everytime you eat fast food your are eating over half of your daily allowance of calories

I learned a lot during my diet but that still doesn't mean I don't like fast food it's so darn tasty and even with that I still have bad habits like eating 1 meal a day and that is a good for your metabolism

I have helped couple of my family members like my mom and a hand full of cousins lose weight to the stuff that I know. modt is really just common sense stuff

PS. I like doctor pepper too... "wouldn't you like to be a pepper too" - Johnny 5

    1. I love Dr. Pepper! When I was little I loved Sprite and now I like Dr. Pepper. I wonder if I'll get sick of it eventually too and then what will I like? I'm very into Cranberry juice right now.

  2. This is not on the subject of nutrition. It's about your Let's Play of Skyrim. Sorry for using this blog to communicate but I don't want to join youtube so I figured this was the next best way to reach you.
I have enjoyed your Let's Play tremendously. One of the things I liked best was your calm and collected approach and the very limited amount of expletives. I will never play Skyrim myself (for various reasons which I won't go into here) so watching you play it has been a whole lot of fun!
I do hope you continue on with the series. I would really like to see the outcome of the Dark Brotherhood plot line. Your last let's play showed Nix entering the sanctuary but ended before finding out if anyone survived and before finding out who was the traitor. I would like to see that a lot.
Anyway, thanks for the many hours spent adventuring with you in Skyrim.

Oh, and by the way, if you care, I'd say pass on the piercing. I think they make a woman look cheap, slutty and low class. That's just my opinion though. Thank you.

    1. Well hello there Leesa. Are you Pencilpoint7s on YouTube? Thank you for watching my playthrough of Skyrim. I do feel the need to continue my Skyrim series, due to your and other people's interest in what happens next. This weekend I am going to Disneyland so I will be unable to record, but I will record some more Skyrim within the next few weeks for sure! If you are interested, I would love for you to subscribe to this blog (if you haven't already) and keep in touch. You are always welcome to email me too (melissa@geekatheart.us).
