Viewers beware you're in for a scare! Or...something like that…
Welcome to the spooky month of October my friends! This month hosts one of my favorite holidays of the year, Halloween!
If you're looking to get yourself in the mood for the season, I (and my friends and family) have devised a list of "scary" movies we thought fit this time of year with a section of tamer movies for younger audiences. Undoubtedly there are many movies out there that are categorized under "horror", but we tried to aim it a little more towards the supernatural for the sake of length. Originals and remakes were not specified as I normally enjoy watching both. Also, I did not specify any sequel(s) as some franchises have many and there is much debate on which ones are good or not. You are welcome to contribute your thoughts on movies we may have missed or left out that you feel should be included.

don't forget scary video games like dead space. Btw after washing your bio shock videos I recant my previous enthusiasm on getting you to play that game... you'll never fall asleep again if you do. Scary.
ReplyDelete=( I don't want tooooooooooo!
DeleteAlso, I will be doing a separate post on the top 9 scary games I will (most likely) never play. I wanted to make it really polished though so I postponed it until next week! =)
This is an amazing list. Much more substance in some of the shows from the past as I feel they are more authentic in their presentation. A less is more effect if you will. Great list but there are a few of course that could be added such as the Creepshow series or Texas Chainsaw Masacre.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will add the Creepshow series. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is under "Murderers"
DeleteYou know, for as extensive as this list is, the only one I haven't seen is 1408, so I will try to watch that one this weekend. One movie that I must watch at least once around Halloween, and have been watching for 30 years now, is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. What is your take on this movie?
ReplyDeleteI love the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Sadly, I've never been able to go to one of the shows where everyone dresses up and sings/dances along, but it sounds like fun. What draws you to it the most?
DeleteWhen I was 10, my mom took me to a live show at a theatre in Minneapolis, near where I live. I thought it was so funny seeing guys dressed up like women, and she bought me the movie the next day. Now, I watch it every Halloween while handing out candy :)
DeleteThat is such a wonderful memory! I am very much like that myself, if I have a great memory of something like a movie or a video game, I will revisit it and rekindle that memory.
