The 30 day drawing challenge

July 24, 2013

Before I grew into a major perfectionist (scrapping most of my art before it ever really takes shape) I drew because I loved to. I never worried what other people thought or what might be considered "good" art. Art comes in all shapes and sizes, there is no one way to make it look and no one should try to fit into anyone’s definition or taste but their own. I currently don't have a specific style of my own and that is what I'm hoping to develop during this challenge.

This is a thirty-day art challenge I found floating around the Internet that I would like to try. I’m not sure who originally created the list, but I’ve made a few changes to make it more unique to my tastes and myself.

1. Favorite food.
2. Favorite sweet/candy.
3. Favorite animal.
4. Favorite plant.
5. Favorite place.
6. Favorite video game.
7. Favorite book.
8. Favorite movie.
9. Favorite animated character.
10. Favorite TV show.
11. Favorite fairytale.
12. Favorite comic book character.
13. Best friend.
14. Turning point in your life.
15. Most recent accomplishment.
16. Family picture.
17. Yourself.
18. A pet (past or present).
19. Someone you love.
20. A couple.
21. Inspiration.
22. Scenery.
23. Just a doodle.
24. Something you want.
25. Something you miss.
26. Something you need.
27. Something you don’t like.
28. Somewhere you want to go.
29. Anything.
30. A congratulations banner for completing the challenge.

When I finish I’m going to reward myself with a Moleskine sketch journal and create a video game themed 30 day drawing challenge.

  1. The actor Jorge Garcia did this in May and it was really cool to see his sketches (http://furtherdispatches.wordpress.com/).

I have been meaning to take up drawing again too and this might be a good way to start. I hope you'll share your drawing here! :)
